Why Christmas in Egypt

Warm sun, empty monuments, and photos nobody else has

Christmas in Egypt means 22°C days in Cairo, 28°C in Luxor, and the Pyramids catching golden light with a fraction of the summer crowds. Hotels across the country dress for the season. The Nile glows under winter sun. And you come home with a private photography library no friend or family album can match.

Christmas Morning at the Pyramids

Sunrise on December 25 at the Giza Plateau — before the gates open to the public. Private permit, panoramic viewpoint, festive breakfast. The shot of a lifetime.

Perfect Winter Weather

18–22°C in Cairo, 24–28°C in Luxor and Aswan. Ideal for long shoots without heat exhaustion. Clear skies mean the sharpest, warmest light of the year.

Quieter Than Summer

Peak season yes — but the crowds are families and photographers, not tour buses. Our private schedules dodge even those. You get near-empty temples at sunrise.

Luxury Nile Cruise

3 nights aboard a 5-star dahabiya sailing Luxor to Aswan. Private sundeck shoots at sunset. Breakfast on deck overlooking the desert as it drifts past.

Daily Professional Photography

Every day includes a private photographer — 300+ fully retouched images across the trip, delivered in 48-hour cycles so you can share as you travel.

Two Christmases to Choose

Pick December 25 for Western Christmas, or January 7 for Coptic Christmas. Both are magical in Egypt. We run the same 8-day itinerary for both dates.

Good to Know

Christmas in Egypt — FAQs

Is Christmas a good time to visit Egypt?

Yes — December is one of the best months. Temperatures in Cairo are mild (18–22°C / 64–72°F), Luxor and Aswan are warm and sunny, and the Nile is calm. It is high season, so booking at least 3 months ahead is recommended.

Does Egypt celebrate Christmas?

Yes. Egypt has a large Coptic Christian community that celebrates Christmas on January 7. Western Christmas on December 25 is also widely recognized at hotels, restaurants and tourist sites across Egypt. You will find festive decorations in major hotels in Cairo, Luxor and Aswan.

What happens on the Christmas at the Pyramids day?

On Christmas morning, we arrive at the Giza Plateau before gates open for a private sunrise photoshoot with the Pyramids as your backdrop. After the shoot, a festive breakfast is arranged at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Great Pyramid. 200–300 edited photos are delivered within 48 hours.

How cold is Egypt at Christmas?

Cairo and Giza average 18–22°C during the day (64–72°F) and 10–12°C at night. Luxor and Aswan are warmer — 24–28°C during the day. Bring a light jacket for early mornings and evenings, especially for sunrise photoshoots.

Can I customize the Christmas tour itinerary?

Absolutely. Every Christmas tour is fully private and customizable. Want to add Abu Simbel, Alexandria, a hot air balloon ride over Luxor, or a specific religious service? Just tell us when you book and we will design the itinerary around your wishes.

What is included in the Christmas tour price?

The price includes 7 nights of 5-star accommodation, all domestic flights within Egypt, private air-conditioned transport, a private Egyptologist guide for all sites, a private photographer for every photoshoot, all entry fees and permits, daily breakfast, and 300+ professionally edited photographs delivered in 48-hour cycles.
